Subject: Hello hello hello!

Howdy Family and Friends,
Another week down, its so weird that I've been out a year. I feel
like I'm starting over except this time i know how to do everything ha
ha. Here's how my week went!
Monday 2-21-12
I don't remember what happened... it was p-day ha ha
Tuesday 2-22-12
We are running really short on miles in the car and we still had to
take a trip to Santa Maria later in the week for Zone Conference so we
decided to ride our bikes from Atascadero to Paso Robles, look it up
on map quest... its quite the ride. Took about an hour and a half,
but on top of that we worked up there, did a bunch of bike riding up
there trying to see people. We also ate lunch at McDonald's and i was
watching a Homeless guy outside sitting on the street asking for
money, and i felt really bad for him and i had a gift card so i
decided to just buy him a lunch. It was sweet, he was really
appreciative. There were actually two Homeless guys, begging for
money, they were just on opposite sides of the street. So i treated
them to lunch. Big Mac and fries and lemonade on me. They were
really really grateful.
Then we left to ride back home. We had to be at an appointment at
5:00 so we left at 3:30 to be there on time... gosh! So we took a
different way back, if you look on map quest and see the road called
Creston that goes WAY East i think? We too that home... And it was
about 23 miles... took about 2 and half hours... It was a great ride
and lots of good things to see, too bad i didn't take many pictures
because i was too tired, i didn't want to have to stop, plus we BARELY
made our next appointment, we will NOT be going that way ever again.
ha ha.
Then we had a lesson with the kid we are teaching that is getting
ready to be baptized, but the person he wants to have baptize him
isn't coming to California until April. So his baptism date has been
pushed back all the way till April 21st! Crazy!
But then we went to dinner at the Mortorffs home. Their daughter just
returned home from a mission in France. She's such a sister
missionary ha ha. But they are pretty cool.
Then we stopped in town and made a ton of calls to try and make
appointments over the phone, and we decided to go see a guy we ran
into later in the week. He let us in and introduced us to his wife,
they are so awesome. He is a Hispanic guy who loves to pray and isn't
very religious. And i can totally see him getting baptized. His name
is David and his wifes name is Leticia, we left them with a book of
Mormon and we hope they will read.
Wednesday 2-22-12
We stayed in pretty late writing up lists of people to go see.
Updating the area book and what not. I hate staying in longer than i
need to but if we don't plan right then our day is bad, especially
since we have to track miles and stuff... so.
Then we went contacting people pretty much all day.
We had dinner with the Osman family.
Then some appointments canceled at night.... but we had correlation
with our ward mission leader brother Mattice in the Atascadero 1st
ward.
Thursday 2-23-12
We went to brother Micklesons house, he's an old guy who is awesome,
kind of a farmer/gardener guy. Good hard worker. He had us come over
an prune his palm trees and then he wanted to take us out to lunch.
He grabbed us some cowboy hats and we went to his favorite diner and
had all you can eat tacos. It was a lot of fun. He said he would get
us some of our very own cowboy hats so we don't look so foreign.
Then we came in and did our weekly planning.
We ate dinner
Contacted peeps
had a lesson with a recent convert named Meghan at a members house and
it went really well.
We traveled a lot of miles that day going to and from Templeton to
Paso Robles and stuff. I Think we drove 63 miles... we are on a 40
mile budget per day. But we still had plenty of miles to get to Santa
maria and back with extra. But Elder Damuni had a slight conniption
over us going over but i let him know it was no biggy ha ha.
Friday 2-24-12
We went to Zone Conference, it was a way nice drive and a pretty good
meeting. I got to see a lot of missionaries I've served around. its
so good to see some of them. They just installed these things into
our cars called Tiwi, and basically it monitors your car. If you
don't buckle up, or if you speed, or if you drive aggressively a voice
comes on and tells you to fix it and then docks you points and then
the president gets a report and can take your driving privileges away
for not driving right. We all got cards and when you get into the
card you have to swipe it past the "Tiwi" box and it logs you in. I
don't like it because i try to keep up with traffic out here and its
telling me to drive like a granny.... not fun.
We were supposed to have presidents interviews after Conference but he
canceled it because of time.
But they told us that L. Tom Parry is coming to the mission next week!
I'm stoked, but yet again we have to save like 300 miles to get to
Ventura and back.
Then I drove us all home and it was pretty foggy, it was sweet!
Then we went to an appointment with a member but our appointment
wasn't home... :(
Then we tried to contact a Less active guy and he turned down the
opportunity for us to come in and share a spiritual thought... super
nice guy, just really against the church i guess? He's a return
missionary too which i don't get..."thus we see how quick the children
of men forget their god" ha ha thats all i can think of when i meet
those kind of people.
Then we got pizza for dinner and went to bed.
Saturday 2-25-12
We taught a woman on her door steps. The whole restoration, she was
super nice and pretty interested, she wanted to cook us breakfast ha
ha. Her name is Jenny! our new investigator :)
Then we tried contacting more people.
Then we ate lunch.
Then we went and did service, we moved a recent convert in to their apartment.
When we got home Elder Seumanu and Elder Damuni came in and they
were... quiet.. so i went to go see what was up and i guess they got
in a fight? Some guy almost hit them with his car and then got out of
his car and elder Seaumanu started fighting him. He ended up with a
deep cut on his face... I was gonna clean it out but i was like...
uh... you should probably get stitches... Not good! But seumanu can
handle it. He's a big Samoan dude!
Then we contacting people and picked up another investigator named
Theresa! She's cool.. The lesson was a little awkward because there
were so many distractions.
Then we went and talked to some really cool people and some really not
so cool people.
We ate dinner at A&W.
Then we went out on the back roads in Atascadero to find members. It
was SUPER Dark and out in the middle of nowhere. Ha ha you guys
should send me a Go Pro (Camera i can attach to my helmet) you would
be shocked by the roads we ride on! ITS CRAZY! i have put so many
miles on my bike. And i was talking to a guy that thinks i could get
probably a couple thousand dollars out of selling my bike. They say
that the old Trek Carbon frames that i have a worth a TON. So the guy
said to sell it as soon as possible if it doesn't mean much to me
because i will trash it and it will probably mean a TON to someone
else. Then i could get a brand new bike and make out with a couple
extra thousand ha ha... everyone who sees my bike says its SUPER RARE.
So maybe when i get home I'll put it up on eBay and buy my motorcycle
with the money (if my bike doesn't get stolen by then).
Anyways i think thats it! Thanks so much for everything! I got a few
letters this week which was sweet! Continue to do so and i will
continue to love you ha ha!
LOVE
Elder SuperSam Crapo
